I wrote about norman

i don't think i have ever written about my dog norman.
norman died july 17th (or 27th), 2009. he was 17, he lived a really long and full life.
here are a few of my favorite norman memories.
norm #1
when we got norman, our family had had a previous dog named jetson (which i later found out my mom really named judson, but the jetsons were such a big show at that time, we all thought mom was calling judson jetson) that was completely nuts. this dog was crazy wild and liked to nip at all us kids. so i was basically terrified of dogs. my parents had went to the pound and found the crustiest dog possible. seriously, norman was the biggest raggamuffin there. he had to be. norm was a shnouzer/scotty mix that was about 20 pounds over weight. his belly dragged on the floor. he also had a bit of a problem with humping. as in he humped constantly. this was to become our family dog. obviously we arent like normal families.
norm #2
norman didnt really do tricks. mostly because he thought he was a human and thought that doing tricks were for dogs. he would just look at you, waiting for you to stop yelling "ROLL OVER". the one and only trick i can ever really remember norm doing was howling. mostly because whenever he howled we would always give him food. norm's world revolved around food. all you had to do was razzle norm a bunch and get him REALLY worked up, then say "what's that?!" and he would throw his head back and howl like a freak. you could get about a good three howls out of him at a time before he expected you to feed him. and he would only do this about once every 4 hours. im not saying norm was lazy, he was just smart. and knew that we wouldnt feed him again for awhile, so it wasnt worth wasting his time. and i think only our family would consider howling a trick.

norm #3
we moved to my family's current residence when i was going into third grade. after a few years of living there, our neighbors got a great dane dog. this dog got big. massive actually. i think it had giantism dog-style. anyway, gabe (big-ass dog) wandered over to our yard all the time. we lived in the 'country' so this wasnt actually a big deal. norm quickly became master of gabe. gabe could easily eat norman, but norman had human/dog complex so i dont think that ever crossed his mind. gabe would follow norm wherever and basically do whatever norman wanted him to. in later years, alli and i decided they must have been gay dog lovers. but if thats what made them happy, who were we to stop them.
there are obviously many more norman stories, but i dont feel like writing anymore.
and also, thank you to michelle who gave me advice on my last post. guess im staying in sheridan (sorry, abby did call and tell me not to move to ireland, so i guess thats off the list too)
byyyye!
