Grandma

Image
I am going to write about a very sweet person. Some know her as a mother, friend, aunt, but I know her as grandma. She is my dad's mom and lives far far away from me. I don't get to see her as often as I would like, but I think that makes each visit that much more special. When I was younger my parents were very good at going to visit grandma and family a couple times a year. I remember the long road trips that took 8 hours. My siblings and I sitting in the back of the van goofing off the entire ride. Some of those memories are the most dear to me. I remember when I was younger, grandma was always so sausy. She was crass and funny and not afraid to put us in our place. I also remember her always telling me how much I was loved. Loved by her, my parents, my aunts and uncles. She is a great great woman. A few years ago, grandma started showing signs of Alzheimer's. The family first just saw it as forgetfulness due to old age, but after awhile it was quite obvious it was a bit

The end of my snowmobiling career

So this past weekend I went snowmobiling. It was great fun. Now, I really did enjoy myself, BUT it wasn't like the BEST TIME EVER I have terrible balance. I blame it on my height. I am 5'9'' (well most likely I am 5'10'' but 5'9'' sounds better). Being so far off the ground gives me a bit of a disadvantage when it come to depth perception. At least that's what I think. Anyway, I have little to no balance, who knew you needed to balance on a snowmobile? Not me. You do, a surprising amount. So I went snowmobiling with friends Janelle, Ryan and Jamie. Janelle and Ryan have snowmobiles and have actually done this before. Jamie and I have not. Ever. Never ever. I stupidly thought I would just be riding along on someone's snowmobile enjoying the scenery...yadda yadda yadda. Not the case. We go up "Red Grade" to Bear lodge. It's a snowmobile trail that is approx. 40-50 miles long. A trip for the "experienced" rider. As it

I am surprised I haven't written about this sooner. Fun fact about Andrea, I am completely obsessed with the Discovery show "Deadliest Catch". It's a bit ridiculous how obsessed I am. I have seen every episode at least 4 or 5 times. Some even more than that. I am completely content to watch Deadliest Catch marathons all day. I have honestly sat in front of the TV for over 12 hours watching it. I LOVE THAT SHOW. All my fellow DCers will already know about this, but last week one of the main men on that show passed away. Captian Phil Harris. Of the Cornelia Marie. Definition of a Scally Wag. Tough as Nails. Capt Phil. He wasn't necessarily my absolute favorite captain on that show (Capt Keith is the best), but I still absolutely loved him. He was so mean and tough, but funny and lovable. And he is DEAD. It feels like a family member of mine has died, well not really, but kind of. This is pretty late in coming, but r.i.p. Capt. Phil. You were great.

I'm a Baby

I am a complete baby. Completely. I can't change, I've tried. One example of my 'baby-ism' is what I did tonight. I went and saw the movie "The Road" tonight with some friends. It wasn't really meant to be a scary movie, but I am a baby and was completely freaked out by it. Seriously, this 'post-apocalyptic' type of film scared me a bit. Well more than a bit, but anyway. So now I am freaked out, going back to my lonely apartment, in the woods, by myself....all alone. So yes, I ran from my car to my apartment. Yes, I locked my apartment door instantly. Yes, I closed all the blinds in my house. And yes, I immediately start watching the happiest movie within my reach. Which happens to be Julie and Julia. A movie about a blogger. I now think I am going to be famous. Now I can sleep well. I'll probably dream about being eaten alive by mangie savages, all while blogging about it. It's because I'm a baby. A scared little baby.

Winter Indulgences

One of my favorite things to do in the winter is take really really really hot showers. Like insanely hot. I like the water temp. to be so hot that I cannot stand under it for more than three seconds without getting a third degree burn. MMM. The steam is so abundant that you can barely breathe. It looks like a sauna when I step out of the shower, but I love love love it. That's not my only winter indulgence. If that one didn't border on weird, this is just a tad weirder... I also love painting my toenails. In the summer, it feels like a chore, but in the winter it's like a treat. I paint them every Sunday. I'm not sure why I am telling everyone this, but it's true. I am a winter toe nail painter. I am also a winter shaver. I shave my legs everyday. That's really weird. Even I know its weird, and I still do it. I also have normal winter indulgences, that help me make it through these long months. Here is a short list. hot chocolate deadliest catch marathons weeke

The teacher and I

I don't think I've ever told you this, but I have some special powers. Some call it a sixth sense. Some call it psychic abilities Some even call it a gift from God. I just call it a nuisance. I only have these special powers with two particular people. mom and alli. But mainly mom. If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting my mother, you know that she is a very charming, quirky, charasmatic, fun-loving, stingy financially but generous emotionally person. She does have one secret though. She is plagued with a very rare disorder that only affects one out of 2,300,000 people. Its called "Direct Object Deficiency" or DOD in our household. You may have never heard of this rare disorder, so I will do a quick overview. It pretty much means that my mother can never actually tell you what she wants bc she can never spit it out. She just stares at you, or points at things and just assumes that everyone knows that she want you to go to the grocery store and get her some eggs

So I actually forgot to bring my camera...oops. BUT Carrie was nice enough to bring hers....and documented the entire night. Not sure if that was necessary, but it was still fun. Big room filled with girls wearing PINK. Very fun The one thing I hate about going out on the town with a camera tagging along, is that you have proof that you really aren't as sexy as you imagine yourself being. Like for instance, I was completely convinced that I was the sexiest girl in the room....sorry to all the other girls in the room, but thats what I thought. Then I see a picture like this the next day. No, not sexy. I have no idea what I was thinking. Or this one.....please. Why do I do things like this. It's just not cute. Or this one. I can safely say this guy is never ever going to call me, look at me, want to be around me ever again. I guess I will have to move on to another conquest. But there is one thing that did make up for a whole night of ugly awkward pictures. I don't think you

The flamingo is pink

Woop Woop! Two posts in one week! Just congratulating myself a little bit. So.... This weekend is going to be SO SO good! Why? I'll tell you why! PINK FLAMINGO and SUPER BOWL and FRIENDS and CLEANING....ok ok cleaning is not that exciting...I got a little carried away with the cap lock. I can probably safely say that everyone knows why the super bowl in fun, but to all my homies in Michigan wondering what the heck "PINK FLAMINGO" is...let me tell you. Along with being a tropical bird, Pink Flamingo is an all girl, all fun, partay! Don't worry, you need to buy a ticket with all the proceeds going to a local charity. It's like a morally good reason to party. This year, or i should say this Saturday's, theme is 80's. Not a huge fan of the 80's (sister Alli has that covered), but any reason to dress up is usually good enough for me. I love dressing up. LOVE IT. So here is a general idea of what kind of look I am going for tomorrow night....enjoy. Beautifu

As you may know from past posts, I am a regular at the local YMCA. I go everyday after work. You might say it is dedication, but I really have other reasons. Dedication is not really apart of my make-up I go for the free cable. I go for the human interaction. I go because it gives me something to do. And I also go for this... Well not this man EXACTLY, but someone that looks very similar SEXY similar....and did i mention that he was sexy? He's sexy. So I love the Y
